2020/21 award criteria

 

 

 

 

Age group trophies (for each of age group male and female)  (Open grouped together U13-16)

- 5 trophies per group

  • Champion (highest overall points in group)

  • Runner up, (second highest overall points in group)

  • Track Award (highest points in track not including Champion and runner up), 

  • Field Award (highest points in field not including champion and runner up)

  • countback system used if the track and field recipient is the same person so that the closest 4th place finisher (on percentage)  wins the award. This will ensure 4 different athletes win a trophy in each.

  • Pb award  ( Highest Pb's in each group minus age group trophy winners above. )

(5 different athletes in each group will win an age group trophy)

 

Centre awards

  • Most Pb's ( male / female) - highest number of Pb's in the centre

  • Centre champion (U7-12) ( male/ female) - Highest overall points in U7-12 age group    (note-open athletes compete in more events and have their own champion in their age group as above) 

  • -Committee award / President's award ( nominations to be discussed at meeting at end of season)

The Phil Gillan Long Jump Award

Awarded to a boy or girl who greatly improves their performance in the Long Jump over the season.  This is defined as the greatest length improvement from the best performance of the previous season to the best performance of the current season

Ted Hudson High Jump Award

Awarded to a boy or girl who greatly improves their performance in the High Jump over the season. This is defined as the greatest heigh improvement from the best performance of the previous season to the best performance of the current season.

 

The Most Improved Triple Jump Award

Awarded to a boy or girl who greatly improves their performance in the Triple Jump over the season. This is defined as the greatest length improvement from the best performance of the previous season to the best performance of the current season.

 

The Hancock Family Discus Award

Awarded to a boy or girl who greatly improves their performance in the Discus over the season. This is defined as the greatest distance improvement from the best performance of the previous season to the best performance of the current season.

 

The Hancock Family Shot Put Award

Awarded to a boy or girl who greatly improves their performance in the Shot Put over the season. This is defined as the greatest distance improvement from the best performance of the previous season to the best performance of the current season.

 

The Buttigieg-Clarke Family Javelin Award

Awarded to a boy or girl who greatly improves their performance in the Javelin over the season. This is defined as the greatest distance improvement from the best performance of the previous season to the best performance of the current season.

 

The Ian Johnson Memorial Trophy

Awarded to a boy from the U11 – Open age groups combined who accumulates the most points for the season in the 400m-800m-1500m track events.

The John Evans Memorial Trophy

Awarded to a girl from the U11 – Open age groups combined who accumulates the most points for the season in the 400m-800m-1500m track events.

The Most Improved 70m Award

Awarded to a boy or girl who greatly improves their performance in the 70m over the season. This is defined as the greatest time improvement from the best performance of the previous season to the best performance of the current season.

The Most Improved 100m Award

Awarded to a boy or girl who greatly improves their performance in the 100m over the season. This is defined as the greatest time improvement from the best performance of the previous season to the best performance of the current season.

 

The Most Improved 200m Award

Awarded to a boy or girl who greatly improves their performance in the 200m over the season. This is defined as the greatest time improvement from the best performance of the previous season to the best performance of the current season.

 

The Most Improved 400m Award

Awarded to a boy or girl who greatly improves their performance in the 400m over the season. This is defined as the greatest time improvement from the best performance of the previous season to the best performance of the current season.

The Most Improved 800m Award

Awarded to a boy or girl who greatly improves their performance in the 800m over the season. This is defined as the greatest time improvement from the best performance of the previous season to the best performance of the current season.

The Most Improved 1500m Award

Awarded to a boy or girl who greatly improves their performance in the 1500m over the season. This is defined as the greatest time improvement from the best performance of the previous season to the best performance of the current season.

 

Special Awards

The Centre shall award a gift to U16 athletes who have been members for at least 5 years, in recognition of their involvement with Little Athletics.

 

The President’s Trophy is a special award determined by the Centre President.

 

Personal Best (PB) Awards Program

A Personal Best (PB) awards program will be run to recognise all children for improvement. Awards are given to athletes as they continue to achieve PB’s.

 

Point scoring for Centre awards

All children receive points for their performance in each event, every week throughout the season. The point scoring is based on the athlete’s performance in relation to a set age group performance standard. The more often you compete, the more points you will achieve. 

Note: -No trophies for competing at States in season 2020/21

          -Pb awards and most improved awards will include centre championship results, however points are not calculated for this day
